Integrative Breathwork FAQs

  • The type of breathwork that I work with is Conscious Connected Breathwork and has two phases, Activation and Restoration. It is a full, deep, connected breath that allows the participant to safely access and process previously held emotions, sensations, and energy. Using touch, tapping, toning and conscious breath we can release this energy and help to restore our nervous system. This rhythmic-style of breathing has a long history in Indigenous cultures as well as Holotropic Breathwork. It is a non-addictive, healing modality that strengthens your relationship to your inner healer, increases awareness, and helps to restore the natural flow of energy within the mindbody system.

  • It is generally considered safe. A 12yr study completed in 2013, that included 11,000 participants with differing diagnoses, demonstrated no complaints of adverse reactions or negative outcomes.

    Although breathwork can be modified so that it is safe for everyone, the activated conscious connected breathwork is still not for everyone. Certain health conditions are contra-indicated.

  • Anyone with a history of epilepsy, seizures, cardiovascular problems including angina or heart attacks, high blood pressure, aneurysms, glaucoma, retinal detachment, osteoporosis, or recent physical injuries, surgery or illness (particularly involving the mouth, teeth, nose, throat, thyroid, immune system, lymphatic system, lungs, chest, ribs, spine and reproductive organs).
